Description

The decline press is the movement most home setups skip, and it is the one that finishes the lower chest. An Olympic decline weight bench does that job properly, with a frame heavy enough that nothing shifts mid-set.

Why an Olympic decline weight bench targets what a flat bench misses

On a flat bench, the load spreads across the whole chest. Decline it, and the emphasis drops to the lower pectoral fibres, which is where most lifters are weakest simply because they never train the angle.

Because your torso is below your hips, the shoulder joint also sits in a more forgiving position. Lifters who find flat pressing hard on the shoulders often press pain-free on a decline.

Foot rollers and stability

Foot rollers lock your legs in place at the high end of the bench. Without them, a decline press turns into a slow slide down the pad, and correcting that costs you the set.

The seat adjusts, so users of different heights can find a position where the rollers sit at the right point on the shins rather than the knees.

Built from tubular stainless steel

The frame is solid and tubular, and it weighs in around 200 pounds. That mass is the whole argument for a commercial-grade bench: it does not rock, walk or flex when the bar is loaded.

The upholstery is made not to peel or fade, which matters more than it sounds in a room that gets sun and sweat in equal measure. Rubber feet keep it from slipping and protect the floor underneath.

Common questions

What does an Olympic decline weight bench train?

Primarily the lower chest, with the triceps and front deltoids assisting as they do on any press.

Will the bar knurling damage the catches?

High-density rubber guards shield the catches, which is what stops the knurling chewing them up over time.

Can shorter users use it?

Yes. The seat adjusts so the foot rollers sit correctly for different leg lengths.

Does it store weight plates?

Yes, on four external weight horns built into the frame.
