Description

A magnetic elliptical cross-trainer gives you full-body cardio with no impact at all. The Body Sculpture BE6792 adds a proper console to that: twelve programmes, heart-rate control and body fat measurement.

Twelve programmes with heart rate control

The programme list covers one manual setting, six presets, one target heart rate mode, three heart rate controls at 60%, 75% and 85% of maximum, and one user setting.

The heart-rate controls are the ones worth understanding. Set 75% and the machine adjusts resistance to hold you there, which is exactly how fat-burning and endurance zones are meant to be trained rather than guessed at.

The console

A deluxe backlight LCD displays hand pulse, scan, time, speed, body fat, distance, RPM, odometer and calories. Backlighting matters more than it sounds — an unlit screen is unreadable in a dim room, which is where most home machines end up.

Body fat and hand pulse are both measured through the grips, so you get a rough composition reading without any extra equipment.

Somewhere to put your phone

There is a rack for an iPhone, an iPad or any smartphone. On a thirty-minute steady session, having somewhere secure to prop a screen is the difference between finishing and stopping early.

Who this cross-trainer suits

Anyone whose knees, hips or ankles have ruled out running, and anyone who wants to train to a heart-rate target rather than by feel. It is a home machine rather than a commercial one, which is reflected in the price.

Compare it with the commercial models in our cross trainer range, or browse the wider cardio equipment selection.

Getting results from it

Use the 60% heart rate control for long, easy sessions and the 85% setting for short, hard ones. Two of each per week is a complete cardio programme.

Push and pull through the moving handles rather than letting your arms coast. That is where the extra calorie burn over a bike comes from.

Price in Kenya

It is KSh 48,000, down from KSh 49,000. Heart-rate control programmes at this price are unusual, and they are the feature that makes the machine genuinely useful rather than just present.

Common questions

What is the maximum user weight on this magnetic elliptical cross-trainer?

120 kg.

Does it measure body fat?

It gives a body fat reading through the hand grips, alongside your pulse. Treat it as a rough guide rather than a clinical measurement.

How much space does it need?

It measures 123 x 59 x 155 cm, and transport wheels let you move it aside afterwards.

Is it quiet?

Yes. Magnetic resistance involves no contact, so there is no friction noise.
