Rubber coated hex dumbbells are the standard in every commercial gym for good reason. They do not roll, they do not chip the floor, and one-piece forging means there is nothing that can ever come loose.
One-piece forged construction
The head and handle are forged as a single piece. Cheaper dumbbells screw or weld the heads onto a bar, and that joint is where they eventually fail — usually by developing a wobble long before anything dramatic happens.
A forged dumbbell has no joint at all. That is why these are described as built to take a pounding, and why gyms specify them.
Why hexagonal
Hex heads do not roll. Put a pair down mid-set and they stay exactly where you left them, which matters as much for safety as for tidiness.
The flat faces also let you use them as push-up handles, and they stack neatly on a rack rather than needing individual cradles.
The rubber coating
Rubber protects your floor, protects the dumbbells themselves, and cuts the noise when they are set down. In an apartment or a shared building, that last point is what makes home training possible at all.
The contoured chrome handle is shaped for a snug fit in the hand, so your grip stays comfortable through high-rep sets.

Choosing your weights
Most home setups start with two or three pairs rather than a full rack. A light pair for raises and rotator work, a medium pair for curls and presses, and a heavier pair for rows and lunges covers almost everything.
The 2.5 kg increments through the middle of the range are what let you keep progressing rather than jumping past where you are.
Who they suit
