Rubber Coated Weight Plates (Standard)

Rubber coated weight plates are what every sensible home gym uses. The cast iron core gives the weight, the rubber protects your floor and your ears, and the tri-grip handles mean you can actually carry them.

The tri-grip design

Three recessed handles are cut into each plate, with spacious rounded openings that fit comfortably in the hand. That makes loading and unloading a bar considerably faster, and carrying plates across a room genuinely easy.

Anyone who has tried to lift a flat cast iron plate off the floor with cold hands understands why tri-grip exists.

Cast iron core, rubber casing

The plates are high-quality cast iron, hand crafted and inspected, then encased in tough premium rubber made from virgin and recycled material. The rubber is what protects your floors, your bars and your other equipment.

It also gives a better finish than plain or painted cast iron, and it does not chip the way paint does after a few months of use.

Standard fit

The hole is 30 mm, sized for standard bars of 25 to 28 mm diameter. Check what you own before ordering — Olympic bars have 50 mm sleeves and need Olympic plates instead.

Each plate is embossed with its weight in kilograms, so building a matched pair takes seconds rather than guesswork.

Building a set

Most home gyms start with a pair each of 2.5 kg, 5 kg and 10 kg, then add heavier plates as they progress. Buying singles rather than fixed sets means you build exactly what you need rather than paying for plates you will never use.

Load them onto our barbells, and ask us about storage racks if the plates are starting to live on your floor.

Home or commercial

They are designed for both gym and home use. The rubber casing is what makes them work at home, where dropped plates and hard floors are the main risk to your equipment and your relationship with your neighbours.

Common questions

Do rubber coated weight plates fit Olympic bars?

No. These have a 30 mm hole for standard bars. Olympic bars need plates with a 50 mm hole.

Are they sold in pairs?

They are sold as singles, so you can build exactly the set you want.

Will they damage my floor?

Far less than bare cast iron. The rubber casing is there specifically to protect floors and equipment.
