Grip is the weakest link in half the exercises people do. A hand grip strengthener fixes that in five minutes a day, at a desk, for the price of two cups of coffee.
Why grip strength matters more than you think
On a heavy deadlift or row, your back and legs usually have more left than your hands do. The bar slips before the muscle fails, so your training is limited by your grip rather than your strength.
Outside the gym it shows up everywhere: carrying shopping, opening jars, holding tools. Grip strength is also one of the measures researchers track as a general marker of physical condition, which tells you how central it is.

Adjustable from 5 kg to 60 kg
The dial adjusts from 22 lbs (5 kg) up to 132 lbs (60 kg). That range is the reason to buy an adjustable model rather than a fixed spring gripper: you set it light while you learn the movement, then keep raising it for years.
It also means one unit serves a whole household. Someone rehabilitating a hand and someone training for climbing can use the same device on completely different settings.
Who uses a hand grip strengthener
- Lifters — to stop grip failing before the muscle does
- Rock climbers — finger and forearm endurance
- Musicians — finger independence and stamina
- Tennis and racket players — wrist and forearm strength
- Office workers — a five-minute break from the keyboard

Rehabilitation use
Grip trainers are commonly used in hand rehabilitation programmes, including after tendon surgery and alongside treatment for conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis and carpal tunnel syndrome. The light end of the range exists for exactly that.
That said, follow your physiotherapist or doctor rather than a product page. They will tell you the resistance and the rep count that suit your case.
Build quality
It is made from heavy-duty plastic over reinforced metal alloy. The cheap versions of this product fail at the spring or crack at the handle, usually within a month, so the materials are the thing worth paying a little more for.
How to train with a hand grip strengthener
Set a resistance you can squeeze for twelve to fifteen clean reps. Squeeze fully closed, hold for a second, and release slowly — the slow release is where most of the benefit sits.
Three sets per hand, five days a week, takes under ten minutes. Raise the setting when fifteen reps stop being hard. Pair it with anything from our strength equipment range, or add a set of gym accessories for a complete home kit.
Price in Kenya
It is KSh 1,000, reduced from KSh 1,300. For an adjustable metal-alloy gripper covering 5 kg to 60 kg, that is about as cheap as serious training equipment gets.
Common questions
What resistance should a beginner start on?
Start near the bottom of the range and find the setting where fifteen reps is genuinely hard by the last three.
Can I use a hand grip strengthener every day?
Most people do, at five to ten minutes. If your forearms are sore, take a day off — the same rules apply as any other muscle.
Is it suitable after hand surgery?
Grippers are widely used in rehab, but the resistance and timing should come from the professional treating you, not from us.
Does it fit small hands?
Yes. The handle span suits most adult hands, and the adjustable resistance matters more than hand size for comfort.
